ASBO Recognizes Westerville City Schools for Financial Reporting

The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International, Reston, Virginia, has awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for excellence in the preparation and issuance of the fiscal year end 2002 school system Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to the Westerville City School District. Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer for Westerville City Schools is Daniel D. Shively.

The Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting program was designed by ASBO International to enable school business officials to achieve a high standard of financial reporting. The award, the highest recognition for school district financial operations offered by ASBO, is only conferred to school systems that have met or exceeded the standards of the program.

This nationally recognized program reviews and critiques district accounting practices as represented in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and recognizes school districts that adhere to sound principles and reporting procedures. A district earning the Certificate of Excellence receives not only the award, but also enhanced credibility for the financial management of its school system. Since its inception in 1972, the program has gained the distinction of being a prestigious national award recognized by accounting professionals, underwriters, securities analysts, bond rating agencies, state and federal agencies, and education, teacher, and citizen groups.

Founded in 1910, ASBO International is a professional organization with more than 6,000 members, which provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth, and the effective use of educational resources.
